We are all used to watching NFL activity on Sundays, correct? Well one Sunday match in Week 3 of the preseason and it’s going to be the last afternoon of Sunday NFL till Week 1 of the regular season. That’s because all teams play Thursday in Week 4 of this exhibition program. The Pittsburgh Steelers see Week 3 to be closed out by the Tennessee Titans.
Both finished last season and missed the playoffs. The Titans would have claimed a Wild-Card spot if they had won Week 17 at home vs. Indianapolis, but the Colts were clearly superior and rolled to a 33-17 victory. Starting Titans QB Marcus Mariota overlooked the match and Blaine Gabbert was unsurprisingly awful in his own position.
Pittsburgh had a Week 17 win over Cincinnati and a Baltimore property loss to Cleveland for the Steelers to choose the AFC North. Pittsburgh did its project with a 16-13 victory — with no star receiver Antonio Brown in his final act of defiance. However, the Ravens and a 26-24 win over the Browns did not collaborate.
Despite not enjoying starting QB Ben Roethlisberger steelers coach Mike Tomlin is a solid 30-22 in his preseason profession and 2-0 this season. The Steelers played with their first two edging Tampa Bay 30-28 in Week 1 final week, and then beating Kansas City 17-7. Transferring by Tomlin’s history, Big Ben should play with a bit on Sunday. Joshua Dobbs and Mason Rudolph are competing for the backup project, with most covering the Steelers thinking Rudolph is leading.
Titans coach Mike Vrabel is 1-1 this season — Tennessee has yet to acquire a home exhibition game. The Titans dropped 22-17 in the home to New England last week but directed all the match and subsequently were Week 1 winners in Philadelphia 27-10. It was won by A TD pass . The Titans first-team offense along with mariota and four series have played thus far but would the first half of this one.
Leading running back Derrick Henry has to play in the preseason due to a calf injury but did come back this past week to practice. If this means he would go in this one, not clear. No. 1 tight end Delanie Walker broke his ankle in Week 1 final year and hadn’t played until last week at the Patriots. He also even caught a TD pass by Mariota. The Titans’ offense isn’t the same with Walker, the best tight end in business history. Meanwhile, Mariota’s backup Ryan Tannehill continues to be excellent this preseason having a 130.8 passer rating, completing 19 of 27 for 214 yards. Some think he might steal the job from Mariota at some point this year.
These teams played in the 2018 preseason, additionally Pittsburgh but although in Week 3. The Steelers won 16-6. Big Ben, which makes his preseason debut of’18, was 11-for-18 for 114 yards and a touchdown. Mariota has been and didn’t play with a lot. He overlooked for that which would have been a touchdown on Tennessee’s opening drive, wide-open Corey Davis.
As I am certain they’d love to end that home preseason losing streak, we’ll take the Titans here.
