Javi Gracia says that he was amazed by Watford’s”unexpected” and”abrupt” decision to sack him on Saturday.
The Hornets re-appointed after taking just 1 point from their four Premier League games of the 23, former supervisor Quique Sanchez Flores.
Gracia left Vicarage Road after having direct Watford to only one win in their last ten games.
However, the Spaniard says that he was amazed by the decision having accepted the club into a Premier League end – their best in the Premier League age – along with the FA Cup final in 2018/19.
“After the sudden announcement concerning the conclusion of my contract after only four games, I want to express my shock after rival the very ideal season in Watford’s history,” Gracia said in an statement.
“I respect that choice and I’d love to guarantee the excellent relationship I have with Gino Pozzo along with Filippo Giradi, and it’s not going to change despite my sudden exit of this club.
“I am thankful to this club for allowing me to manage this wonderful club in the Premier League, it has been an unbelievable adventure, with really special moments such as the FA Cup final I had the privilege to enjoy.
“I wish to thank every single person who works to this particular club and has made my regular really simple. My gratefullness and enjoy for this club is going to be ceaseless.
“And finally, I want to thank the fans for supporting me how that they did from day one, until my last. I’ll always desire the fans and these players the ideal.”
Gracia was under a year into a season contract at Vicarage Road. Watford had the choice to extend the deal.
