Team Strengths: The White Sox have an bullpen for the first time in years, aided by free agent signing of Kelvin Herrera and the purchase of Alex Colome. Coupled with Aaron Bummer, Jace Fry and holdovers Juan Minaya, the White Sox stand to see improvement from their relief corps.
Team Weaknesses: White Sox starters submitted a 5.07 ERA last year (26th at MLB) and the offense scored 656 conducts (24th), a double presence in the bottom of baseball which resulted in the franchise’s first 100-loss season since 1970. Key players obtained in trades, namely Yoan Moncada and Lucas Giolito, have not performed, while a streak of subpar drafts this decade continues to haunt the club.
What They Were About It: The White Sox traded for Ivan Nova to assist Yonder Alonso and the pitching staff to help the crime, and Jon Jay was also signed by them. The actual help will come from the farm system when righthander Dylan Cease and possibly outfielder Eloy Jimenez come from the minors.
Last Outlook: The White Sox farm system graduations give them a chance but their margin for error is sparse to avoid another 90-loss season.
